What I learned: 12k is too far of a run to just wing it. Next year I'll make sure I train to be in better shape. I also learned that corn tortillas are a must and keep your eyes peeled for beach balls. I got blasted in the head with a red rubber ball and it kinked the heck outta my neck. I'm icing it now. All-in-all, it really was a blast. The weather was great.
