Two Laboratory researchers and a LLNL atmospheric modeling center are featured in a one-hour documentary that airs Thursday (Nov. 12) on the National Geographic Channel.

The program, called “Dirty Bomb Attack,” shows what happens when a U.S. city – Portland, Maine – becomes the target of a hypothetical radiological attack. The documentary will air at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Thursday evening.

Produced by the Maine-based Lone Wolf Documentary Group, the program starts with a dramatization of a car bomb detonating on a busy street and moves to the question of “what happens next?”

The Lab’s Brooke Buddemeier and Page Stoutland as well as the Interagency Modeling and Atmospheric Assessment Center are featured.

In addition to airing on Nov. 12, the “Dirty Bomb Attack” documentary also will be shown on Nov. 15 at 7 a.m., Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. and Nov. 22 at 11 p.m.

Well 4 days completed on Atkins Diet. Going well. Breakfast is the hardest. The food is great it's just a lot of work.

They have added a couple new rides to the Boardwalk... The Tornado is like the old Tea Cup ride with a "twist"... You spin yourself plus you get flung in the air! We didn't ride any rides, we'll need to do an adult trip one day... Hit up O'malleys and Camouflage...

Bay 2 Breakers 2009

B2B 2009 was fun! I'll definitely plan on doing the 2010 race. It will be the 99th annual event. The next two events should be big.
What I learned: 12k is too far of a run to just wing it. Next year I'll make sure I train to be in better shape. I also learned that corn tortillas are a must and keep your eyes peeled for beach balls. I got blasted in the head with a red rubber ball and it kinked the heck outta my neck. I'm icing it now. All-in-all, it really was a blast. The weather was great.

What kind of man Jesus would be?

A question was recently proposed that I thought was interesting... What kind of man Jesus would be?

My unlce asked me and included some thoughts of his own [below blue, I think. I'm color blind] after thinking about this a bit I felt like this was something I could write about.... [below black]

Our lives are short, and I imagine you to be, and I wish for you to be a bit of a contemplative man. Are you a religious man Justin? I am not really; however, I am a 'spiritual man'. But I imagine you to be a religious man to an extent. Therefore, I would compel you to contemplate on what kind of man Jesus would be.I think he would be a 'liberal' man, one tending towards caring for his fellow man, loving, not warring, one inclined to share and help those less fortunate...... I do not like a simple two party system, and repel from the thought of aligning towards one in particular.........but if Jesus were compelled to in this day, which would he choose?

I agree whole heartily with everything above, the one thing that I would add however, is that I don't feel that you can successfully run a country being aggressively liberal like Jesus. I'm no scholar and I've had/continue to have, my share of issues so obviously I'm not trying to throw stones... I just think that our social groups should take a more aggressive approach to our fellow Americans. Everyone in our country feels that the government owes them something and I don't like that entitlement attitude. On the flip side of that you can't blame those for taking what someone is offering. We need to tighten the reigns of our government and stop the handouts. It’s like this... I can't blame my dog for begging for dinner scraps when I keep feeding him from the dinner table. I'm an enabler, and our government is an enabler.

To answer the simple question at the end, I don't think he'd choose either. I believe that he would have feelings about abortion would lean him red however, again just my opinion, the lack of social support in the red would lean him into the blue which may make him purple. Like a Crown Royal bag. "Nunc est bibendum."

Went MTB riding out at De Valle yesterday morning and had a great adventure. [See pics]. The ride started as usual at the bottom of Mines Rd. The weather was wet, lots of mist, and cool. The climb up Del Valle road was one of the best I've had. Our pace was fast and when we got to the top I wasn't pooped like usual. I'm guessing this added power was either the weather or the Cytomax Fast-Twitch, maybe both. Back to the ride- we dropped into the park at the staging area at the top of the hill. The trail starts out with a fair amount of gravel so the trail was. Very ride able. We took off down the first big downhill, the mist drops hammering my eyes, we passed a older man walking his dog. He moved to the side and allowed us to zoom by. Our zooming was short lived. About 3/4 of a mile or so down the mountain I began to have mud issues with clay sticking to everything. I got to the point where I couldn't pedal anymore. I stop while my friend used his momentum to keep rolling. I cleaned my bike and caught up with my friend. His tires are a bit narrower and he wasn't having problems, yet. We made it about another 1/4 mile before I was put out of service for good. I had mud caked everywhere on my bike and as I struggled to pedal, I was muscling my way through each stroke, all-of-a-sudden... Snap!!! My rear derailure cage snapped right off my bike. The derailure mechanism got caught in my cassette and folded up. So now we are about a mile into the park and I was having to walk back up the mountain (before it was a hill, now that I'm walking, carrying my bike, its a mountain) carrying my bike (that is now 10lbs heavier). The hike was tough but almost enjoyable. "R" was able to clean up his bike and ride back up some of the trails. So we agreed to meet back at the top of the mountain. As I hoofed I just though of it as part of the adventure, which made things much more exciting and helped pass the time. The last 1/4 mile was mostly flat so I actually jogged, still carrying my bike on my back. At the top of the mountain we chatted a bit then decided since I couldn't get my bike to roll, "R" would go get the truck. Is was a cold ride down the mountain back to my truck, riding in the bed of an F250.
All-in-All, it was a pretty good day!

Wifey, RT, and I just got home from a little 'congratulations' party for a newly expecting couple that we know. We are very excited for them.
